LORIS DI FRANCESCO

Fondatore

I never learned to sew: so I can't really call myself an upholsterer.

I do this job to pursue a dream, an idea, and a vision of craftsmanship.

During my civil service, at the age of 20, I started collaborating with a curtain distribution company, I stayed there even after the civil service, working in the design office.

I soon realized that in this sector, automated production is more a limit than an advantage: you should know how the finished product will be like; how to use a certain hook; how a particular nail will work so that the product itself is exactly how yo u want it and works as the customer expects.

Just then, the woodworm began to gnaw making high quality craft products. Do less, but at a high level. True craftsmanship, from design to production, according to modern standards and innovative technologies.

Everything I did afterwards, passing from my Tendastore e-commerce to Artendis, had this objective: to help the birth of a new generation of artisan-upholsterers.

For Artendis I provide advice and take care of the relations with architects and designers, helping them in the design, in the study of solutions, alternatives and in the realization. I am also vice president of Assites (National Association of curtains and awnings).

I never separate myself from my camera; I often visit museums; and I don't miss a contemporary art exhibition

Production

Here in Artendis I am the production manager. My job is to check that the product leaves the laboratory exactly as the customer asked for. A job that requires concentration: With your head, you have to know what you are doing, even if procedure codes help me.

And say that, I can't stand still and I enjoy the outdoors! In my spare time, I go to the gym and every Sunday I dedicate mys elf to the airsoft, a sport based on the simulation of military actions, which I practice as a team in the Tivoli woods.

I consider myself a son of art: upholsterer dad, upholsterer brother, and so did I.

I started working when I was 14, as soon as I finished school, in my father's workshop. Older, I started a business with my brother Stefano. Then, 12 years ago, I met Loris and here I am.

I am 44 years old, I am married, and I have a 3 years old girl, whom I love very much.

MARCELLO MARCELLI

Research and development

I have been working with Loris since 2009, I come from the construction sector. A big leap: I used to take measurements with meters, now with centimeters. I have had experience in the field, as they say.

I am like this: I like to have new experiences and get involved. I keep my mind open, ready to seize opportunities. That’s why in Artendis, I deal with research and development.

My job is to look for materials and components; to study new geometries and shapes; to try and to test: the first idea is not always the right one.

Calm and patience are needed; I cultivate it thanks to my passion for modeling.

When I can, I indulge in a motorcycle ride: a rally, a trip out of town, a lunch with friends.

Logistics and quality control

I make curtains. Since ever. I started early, right after school, with my father and brothers.

In 2012 my brother and I started our own business, but between taxes, rising costs and the crisis in the sector, at a certain point we preferred to team up with Loris (with whom we already collaborated).

Team in the true sense of the word: each of us puts his own; we look over our shoulder; we confront each other; we help and collaborate among ourselves.

In Artendis I deal with logistics, production and quality control. I check the goods before they leave the warehouse: that the product has no defects and that the packaging is complete with everything needed for assembly.

It's a beautiful job. I like what I do. And I hope customers appreciate it more and more.

Even if, my family is at the center of everything: my wife and my two children, aged 8 and 4. My free time is dedicated to them: we play, we go to the park, we go horseback riding.
